Google Site Search
Looking for 404’s, broken code, missing content
- Go to google.com
- In the search bar put site:gordonrealaw.net (only the root domain, no https or www)
- You will open each URL that comes up in a new tab so you don’t lose your place on google, then go to each tabs window URL and replace the live sites URL with the dev url. For example:
- https://gordonrealaw.net/testimonials in the url bar you will select https://gordonrealaw.net/ and replace it with https://dev.gordonrealaw.pages.dev/ so you can see our version of the page.
- Look for any pages that are 404’s (redirects will need to be made for these so please keep those pages in a list for yourself to make), you will also scroll down on the page to look for any broken code, and look for any missing content on a page/blog posts that did not come over from the live site
- make sure you go through all of the page numbers on google so we check every single link
make sure all URL’s are exactly as they show on google, unless told otherwise. They should stay exactly the same. Even down to the / at the end of the url.
This is so we can make sure we have every page brought over that shows up on google. There are cases where pages get missed, so it’s really important that we do this. There are also PDFs that you can find through the google search that we may have missed.
We will need to bring over or make a redirect for any pages that were missed. If you are not sure if it needs a redirect or if it needs to be brought over, ask a fuel developer.
